With its grandeur and magical world, Heeramandi came up with a production budget of humongous Rs 200 crore. While Sanjay Leela Bhansali charged Rs 60-70 crore for direction as per Money Control, Sonakshi Sinha took home Rs 2 crore for her dual portrayals of Rehana and Fareedan. Manisha Koirala and Richa Chadha charged Rs 1 crore each for the characters of Mallikajaan and Lajjo aka Lajwanti. Aditi Rao Hydari, who won our hearts with her portrayal of Bibbojaan received Rs 1-1.5 crore.
Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal reportedly charged Rs 40 lakh and 30 lakh for their characters of Rehana and Alamzeb. Fardeen Khan, who made a much-awaited comeback as Wali Mohommad, charged Rs 75 lakh.
Talking about the review, Firstpost gave _Heeramandi_ 4 stars and wrote, “The beauty of cinema changing brought about by OTT is that there are no heroes and heroines and all the characters are important. Most importantly there are no black and white, but the shades of grey. Bhansali understands that there are only shades of grey to every story, nothing is completely black or completely white. It is his debut web series, but the master craftsman truly knows what works on the digital platform and has upgraded himself with changing times and most importantly understood the demand of the evolving audiences. Unlike other typical Bhansali cinema, Heeramandi is not about stars, but craftsmen who have given their best.”
