Aditi Rao Hydari has been a part of the Hindi film industry for the last 16 years. She made her debut with Delhi-6 and has also dabbled with cinema in the South. On the OTT landscape, she has acted in Netflix and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, Taj on Zee5, and Jubilee on Prime Video.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, when asked about her career and choosing her directors, Hydari revealed, “More than the roles, it’s the makers and the directors (that excite me). I’ve always said that I’m a director’s baby, and I enjoy the process of going on an adventure with a director who really pushes me and demands the best of me.”
She added, “If that is not happening, then I feel like withdrawal symptoms (laughs). So, I want to be pushed. I want to be put into a place - like a child going into a dark room where they don’t know what’s going to happen. I like that feeling; I like the butterflies; it’s more like elephants stomping in my stomach. I like that fear, but it’s good fear.”
Aditi also said, “It’s a fear that’s coming out of the adventure of the unknown, and that’s what I keep seeking. It’s the content that is king, and that matters;has what you are doing in that story matters. But I feel that it stems from the creative people, including the director, producer and the whole team. Usually, the director is the captain of that creative ship.”
On working with Dharmendra
In an exclusive interview with Firstpost back in 2023 during the promotions of Taj, Aditi spoke about the veteran star and said, “None of us worked with Dharam sir before but he was amazing in the trailer. And the other day when we met him at the logo launch, and he was so handsome. I gave him a red rose also and I knew all the mummys, everyone is going to text me. With Naseer sir we worked a lot and it was incredible. What I liked the most about him was that he doesn’t sit on a pedestal and expect others to tiptoe around him. He works with us to make the scene better and more engaging.”
