Netflix to produce live-action remake of Japanese cult anime series, Cowboy Bebop

Netflix has announced that it will produce a live-action remake of the popular Japanese anime TV series, Cowboy Bebop.

The streaming platform has planned a ten episode series with Tomorrow Studios, writes Variety. The series has been described as “the jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine and Radical Ed: a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals.” Director of the original anime Shinichiro Watanabe, will serve as consultant while Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg are the executive producers. Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki, and Shin Sasaki of Sunrise Inc, the studio behind the original will also executive produce along with  Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios, Tetsu Fujimura, and Matthew Weinberg. Cowboy Bebop is one of the many classic anime series picked up by Netflix. In 2017, the platform had released a live-action film of Deathnote and it was recently reported that it has required the rights of  Neon Genesis Evangelion.  Avatar: The Last Airbender  will also be rebooted by the streaming service with the original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko as executive producers.
