Mukesh Khanna, known for his iconic turn as Superhero Shaktimaan. There are reports that Ranveer Singh will don the role in its film adaptation but Khanna hasn’t been too happy about it. And back in 2013, he said there are not too many stars that can be Shaktimaan.
At a press conference, Khanna said, “Neither Shah Rukh Khan, nor Ajay Devgn or Akshay Kumar or Tiger Shroff can become Shaktimaan . Because the face that’s needed for Shaktimaan, none of them have it. Because they have a certain image.”We need a Shaktimaan who can teach the kids. I feel there should be a new guy, if you ask me .”
He added, “If we make a movie, we still don’t know what the story will be. There are so many people, the Sony people… the conversation about the rights is still going on. Shaktimaan is not just a serial or even Avengers, Shaktimaan is our mythology.”
Khanna , best known for his iconic portrayal of the superhero Shaktimaan, recently posted on his social media about rumoured Shaktimaan project casting that is doing the rounds with Bollywood Superstar Ranveer Singh.
The video was first uploaded on YouTube and then was posted on his Instagram. Both have now been taken down by Khanna. The video which has now been deleted had remarks about the potential Shaktimaan movie.
The reports have long been making rounds on the casting for the reported superhero film however, no confirmation has come. Reacting to the reports, Khanna made a video and shared on his social media, which didn’t make Singh’s fan happy.
What did the veteran actor say?
The OG Superhero has had a rather scathing reaction on Singh stepping into his shoes. He shared a video on Instagram and said, “Since a few months social media has been flooded with the news of Ranveer playing Shaktimaan. Everyone was upset about it, but I kept quiet, however, when channels also announced that Ranveer was signed for the film, I had to open my mouth. I have said that an actor who carries such an image, no matter how big he is, cannot play Shaktimaan. I have put my foot down, now see what happens further.”
He even shared a video on his YouTube page and exploded on the Simmba actor by stating, “Work in films where you will get to do a nude scene in every third scene. I have told the producers, that your competition is not with Spider-Man, Batman, Captain Planet. Shaktimaan is not just a superhero, he has also become a super teacher. Now, the actor who takes on the role should have the quality that when he speaks, people will listen. There are big actors, but their image comes in the middle.”
