Mithun Chakraborty is 'quite stable', says hospital official: He will undergo certain investigations before discharge

The health condition of veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty has improved and he is “quite stable”, an official said on Sunday. “He is recuperating well, is fully conscious, well-oriented, active, and has consumed a soft diet. He will undergo certain investigations before his discharge,” the official of the medical facility said.

The popular actor has already undergone an MRI, along with other medical tests at the hospital. On 10th February, Mithun Chakraborty was rushed to Apollo Hospital’s emergency unit in Kolkata. Later in the day, the hospital issued a statement and revealed about the stroke. “Shri Mithun Chakraborty (73), National Award-winning actor, was brought to the Emergency Department of Apollo Multispeciality Hospitals, Kolkata, around 9.40 am with complaints of weakness in the right upper and lower limbs. Necessary laboratory and radiology investigations were carried out including an MRI of the brain. He has been diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke) of the brain. Presently, he is fully conscious, well-oriented and has consumed soft diet. Shri Chakraborty is being further evaluated by a team of doctors including a neuro-physician, cardiologist and a gastroenterologist,” the statement read. The actor was recently conferred with Padma Bhushan. He expressed his gratitude and said, “After a lot of struggle and hard work, I have finally received such an honour… It is a feeling I can’t express. I am dedicating this to all my fans in India and abroad, who have given me unconditional love.” Chakraborty, who has been honoured with Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in the country, has acted in around 350 films in Hindi, Bengali, Odia, Bhojpuri and Tamil. His prominent films include Mrigayaa, Agneepath, Disco Dancer, Pyaar Jhukta Nahi, Swarg Se Sundar, Swami Vivekananda, Dance Dance and others With inputs from PTI
