The beauty queen added, “I would like to remind people when they…make comments about not just me, but all of the candidates — ‘she’s not pretty enough, she’s not skinny enough’ — is Miss Universe meant to be the next top model, or is she meant to uplift and inspire?”

Netizens react

I believe in complete fairness so criteria like height, weight, body colour, accent, age, should be removed from the Miss Universe pageant.

Shes gorgeous please! Embrace the melanin. The colonizers left decades ago! It’s time!

She is 1000% right about representation. If you have daughters think about what message/standard you are setting for them- it will shape who they are.

Sad that we are still fighting over skin colour and the whole superiority complex..

The Miss Universe 2025 fiasco

Several models, including Miss Universe Mexico, staged a walk out after the organizer of the show Nawat Itsaragrisil reportedly berated Mexico’s beauty queen Fátima Bosch. The episode has snowballed into massive controversy and the organizer has even issued a statement.

Did Nawat Itsaragrisil berate Miss Universe Mexico?

As per reports, Itsaragrisil called Bosch ‘dumb head.’ And called her out for not participating in promotional materials for Thailand. This is when many models walked out of the event.

What  Miss Universe  Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark said

She said in her official statement- “This is about women’s rights,” she said as she left the event. “This is not how things should be handled. To trash another girl is beyond disrespectful… That’s why I’m taking my coat and I’m walking out.”

I just want to let my country know, I’m not afraid to make my voice heard. It’s here stronger than ever. I have a purpose. I have things to say. We’re in the 21st century. I’m not a doll to be made up, styled and have my clothes changed. I came here to be a voice for all the women and all the girls who fight for causes and to tell my country that I’m completely committed to that.
