'Merry Christmas' actor Vijay Sethupathi asks fan to not call him a 'simple man', says 'What I wear is expensive'

Having received a lot of compliments for his work, including the latest ventures like  Jawan  and  Merry Christmas,  Vijay Sethupathi in his personal life is often praised for his humble nature and simplicity. However, it seems the actor does not want to be attached to this label. During a promotional event for his latest release Merry Christmas, Sethupathi was seen telling one of his fans to not call him “a simple man,” stating that all of what he wears is expensive.

Speaking at the promotional event, while a fan praised Sethupathi for his simplicity, the actor gently responded and said, “Everybody says like this but this is not the truth."

Pointing towards the shirt and trousers chosen for the day, the actor further continued, “It is comfortable for me. If I could wear a coat or a blazer, I would have worn that, but I am comfortable in this."

“This is not simple. All of this is expensive,” he said, further adding that he does not want to create any drama by attending events in simple clothes but it’s the way he lives.  

“They have been looking at me and telling me that I am very simple. But this is not the case. I don’t do drama. I am really comfortable with this. If I had been comfortable in a blazer and the James Bond hat, I would wear that and come. I don’t want this label on me please,” he said.

Vijay’s work front  

On the work front, Vijay Sethupathi was last seen in Sriram Raghavan’s Merry Christmas alongside actress Katrina Kaif.

After Santosh Sivan’s Mumbaikar and Atlee Kumar’s Jawan, Merry Christmas marks the actor’s third Hindi film. Besides that, he has also worked in the Hindi Web series ‘Farzi’ alongside Shahid Kapoor.  

Of late, the actor received a lot of praise for his recent performances in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer and Merry Christmas. Next, he has Tamil films ‘Vidhuthalai Part 2’ and ‘Maharaja’ in the pipeline.
