The first look of Denzongpa in the film was released on Saturday, where he is seen riding a horse in a senapati attire, supervising the preparations of Jhansi Fort. The team had earlier shared the looks of Atul Kulkarkarni as Tantya Tope, Jisshu Sengupta as Maharaja Gangadhar Rao and Ankita Lokhande as Jhalkari Bai.

The character of Danny, also referred to as Ghaus Baba, will act as the commander of Manikarnika's army and a father figure to Rani Laxmibai's character, played by Kangana Ranaut.

Producer Kamal Jain says, ‘’Danny Denzongpa was our first and only choice for character of Ghaus Khan in the film. It’s a tailor made role for him. He has worked really very hard for pulling off this character effortlessly in the film’’.

The trailer of Manikarnika will be launched on 18 December.

Manikarnika will focus on Rani Laxmibai's fight against British colonisers for the rightful independence of her country and land. Sonu Sood was initially roped in to essay the role of Sadashiv Narayan Rao, but following his exit, Zeeshan Ayyub will now play the part.

Produced by Zee Studios and Kamal Jain, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is slated to release on 25 January, 2019.
