Mallika Sherawat became an overnight sensation with the success of the erotic thriller Murder back in 2004. She didn’t have any major career high since then. In that Anurag Basu directorial, her smoldering and sexual avatar scorched the screen and blazed the ticket windows. Her oomph and unapologetic submission to sex became the talk of the town.
But the makers began to stereotype her sexuality to meet their own perverted ends. In a recent interview, the actress made some appalling revelations. She said, “I was shooting for a song in a South Indian movie when the director approached me. He said, ‘Madam, we want to show how hot you are.’ I agreed, thinking it was just a typical dance sequence. But then he added, ‘In this scene, the hero will cook rotis on your stomach.’”
”A woman’s sexuality has been used to sell everything soaps, cars, washing machines, even toothpaste. In 2004, when I did Murder, we used erotica for the box office. What is the box office? It’s stimulation, right?” she explained, referring to the controversy that surrounded her film at the time. The actor recalled the backlash she faced for her bold choices. “People were outraged; they burned my dolls. On one side, you use a woman’s sexuality to sell something, and on the other, you abuse me for the same thing.” This was in an interview with Siddharth Alambaya.
Sherawat known for movies like Murder, Khwahish and others, is set to make a comeback in showbiz with Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri starrer Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video.
In one of the interviews, the gorgeous actress revealed that one of her co-stars harassed her.
“Let me tell you an instance, I was shooting for a big film in Dubai, a multi-starrer film. It’s a super hit film, and people like it a lot, I have done a comedy role in it,” said Sherawat as per IANS.
