Edited excerpts from the interview:

What is your take on fashion versus style?

Oh, good question! I think style is very personal. And there can never be a good style or a bad style. Because as far as it’s authentic and it’s your own style, it’s all good. I think fashion is more holistic. Fashion is there; these are standards that are set by many, many beautiful minds. Fashion can be in and out, but style stays forever.

You are wearing Amit Aggarwal collection. So, what do you have to say about this revival of weaves?

I love it. I love the idea. I love how he has repurposed a Banarasi saree into a corset. I also love the way it’s styled, the tie, the corset. The balloon pants. I saw this. We had two options. Even the other silhouette was beautiful, but I saw this, and I was like, no, I just have to wear this. I love it. It makes me feel strong. It really makes me feel like I’m ready to take over the world.

What’s your idea of conscious consumption?

It’s the need of the hour. I don’t think any of us as individuals can run away from the responsibility that we have towards our planet and future generations to come. Sustainable fashion is key. I think we need to start by addressing that. Our culture, Indian culture, is sustainable. We just need to reconnect with our roots. If we wear indigenous textiles that are Indian in its roots. Like this beautiful Banarasi, I think you’re already following a sustainable lifestyle.
