Amit Aggarwal unveiled ANTEVORTA at the India Couture Week which was held recently in Delhi. Inspired by the Roman Goddess of the future who is always present at the time of birth, ANTEVORTA symbolises the timeless connection between time and the universe. The collection intricately weaved together philosophical, mythological, religious, scientific, and cosmological influences into a temporal narrative.

ANTEVORTA is an exploration of ’time’ through five distinct identities experiencing time in each fleeting moment, experiencing time as a one-way sequence, experiencing time as an eternal cycle, experiencing time as a conjurer, and as the center of equilibrium. In his collection he introduced new textiles and techniques, blending them with the brand’s signature style and philosophy to create a truly distinctive narrative. Amit believes that the fashion industry is going through significant transformation post pandemic.

What is your take on the revival of weaves?

Reviving traditional weaves is more than a trend; it’s a cultural and artistic revival. By blending these ancient techniques with modern fashion, we honor our heritage and the artisans behind these crafts. This approach preserves traditional skills, introduces them to a global audience, and creates a dialogue between tradition and contemporary aesthetics.

How local are we getting when it comes to fashion?

Fashion is becoming increasingly localized, with a deep appreciation for indigenous craftsmanship and materials. Designers are exploring regional techniques and histories to create pieces that are both authentic and globally appealing. This shift supports our local artisanal families and also minimizes the environmental impact of production. It’s a harmonious blend of local heritage with a global vision, ensuring that each creation is unique and carries a piece of cultural history.

What do you have to say about the business of fashion, has it got any better especially now that the pandemic is over and things are looking different in the last two years?

The fashion industry has undergone a significant transformation post-pandemic. There’s a growing emphasis on sustainability and conscious consumerism. Shoppers are now more discerning, valuing quality and authenticity over quantity. This change has benefitted brands that prioritize ethical practices and craftsmanship. Additionally, the digital revolution has accelerated, making online platforms crucial for reaching a wider audience. Overall, the industry is moving towards a more sustainable and innovative future, balancing creativity with commercial success.

Fashion vs Style, what’s your preference and how is it different?

Style is paramount. While fashion is ever-changing, style is personal and enduring. Fashion reflects trends, but style is about individual expression and authenticity. Our designs blend these concepts, offering pieces that are both trend-forward and timeless, allowing wearers to showcase their unique style while staying fashionable.
