Academy-award winner Kate Winslet has spoken about the debate around nepotism in a recent interview where she revealed how she doesn’t like the term ‘Nepo babies.’ This is a debate that caught up in Bollywood back in 2017 after Kangana Ranaut spoke about it.
The _Titanic_ actress was quoted saying to BBC, “I just try to say to my children, just follow your heart. There are lots and lots of people in the world whose children go into similar family business whether it’s being a judge or a lawyer or a doctor."
“But that doesn’t necessarily translate to being able to actually get jobs and actually…gain respect from your peers and people around you,” Winslet added.
On the BBC’s Instagram post sharing her comments, one user wrote: “Just accept that it helps them and move on—pretending that it doesn’t makes you look out of touch.” Meanwhile, another said: “Having famous parents DOES open doors! This is denying the undeniable.”
Kate Winslet shares Eminem’s strange request
In a surprising and humorous turn during a December 5 appearance on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, Kate Winslet shared a long-kept backstage story involving Eminem from their time together on ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 2004. According to Winslet, the rapper, who was the musical guest that night, asked her to shave his “bottom.”
The confession took many by surprise. As Winslet put it, “Eminem asked me to shave his bottom,” a request she firmly declined, joking, “I’m sorry. I don’t do personal grooming.” She added with mock incredulity, “I’m not going to go in with a Bic and get your crack, love!”
The 2004 episode of SNL marked Winslet’s first and only time hosting the iconic sketch-comedy show. Back then, she had little time to prepare - besides hosting, Winslet was promoting the film ‘Finding Neverland’, and she was reportedly asked to sing and tap-dance live, all within about 24 hours.
