On 24th March, Kangana Ranaut announced that she is set to fight the Lok Sabha election from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi on the BJP’s ticket. The actress took to micro-blogging site X and wrote, “My beloved Bharat and Bhartiya Janta’s own party, Bharatiya Janta party ( BJP) has always had my unconditional support, today the national leadership of BJP has announced me as their Loksabha candidate from my birth place Himachal Pradesh, Mandi (constituency) I abide by the high command’s decision on contesting Loksabha polls. I feel honoured and elated to officially join the party. I look forward to be a worthy karyakarta and a reliable public servant. Thanks.”

While all the fans of the actress are super happy post this announcement, it was not an unsurprising decision as Kangana had hinted about her entrance, when she replied to an X user in 2021, “If I get into politics, I want a state with complexities I can work on and be the Queen I am in that field also.”
Talking to the media yesterday, she said, “God has been kind and has blessed me a lot. For me, politics is not a means to gain publicity or make money, it’s a way to serve the people. As public figures and actors, we reach a point where the audience too expects something from us in terms of giving back to society.”
She added, “What all I have, it’s all because of people and the BJP is a party of the people. I’ll make sure to not leave any stone unturned and give back way more to people compared to what they have blessed me with. I had used the word ‘Nepotism’ and I would like to say that the BJP is a political party with a fair outlook and functioning."
Stating that she joined the party as a worker and not a Bollywood star, she added, “Today, I haven’t joined this party as a Bollywood star, I have become a part of the party as a worker and will work in the interest of the party and society. A lot of people today have gathered here and given me this opportunity as they guide me through this path."
