Saiyaara, featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda has turned out to be a monstrous blockbuster at the box office. The musical romantic drama has struck a chord with especially with Gen Z, and since the release, the videos of people crying and shouting inside the theatres have been going viral on social media.
Now, Kajol’s sister and actress Tanishaa Mukerji has slammed a person who claimed that these reactions were planned by the makers and paid people money to cry and shout in a podcast titled The Asymmetric Crew featuring the creator, The Barber Shop with Shantanu.
“Completely disagree. Times are changing and these people are stuck in the past. Love and appreciate the new. And honestly, what rubbish is this man saying? Does he know anything for a fact. He is using the phenomenon of _Saiyaara_ to get views by talking negatively. If people are reacting to a film what is so wrong about that. Just because he cannot relate doesn’t mean the younger generation doesn’t either. Every generation is different. This is India. We react. Go watch the film see how the audiences are moved. Then talk. This is just Bollywood bashing ! Brands just have to find new ways to connect to their audiences!” Mukerji commented on the reel, replying to his claim.
Talking about Saiyaara, the film backed by YRF has crossed the Rs 270 crore mark at the box office and is now marching towards the Rs 300 crore club.
Directed by Mohit Suri, the movie is currently the second highest grosser of the year after Chhaava beating biggies like Housefull 5, Raid 2, Sitaare Zameen Par and others.
The film will now face a screen crunch with the arrival of Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2 and Siddhant Chaturvedi-Triptii Dimri’s Dhadak 2.
