John Abraham roped in for Rensil D'Silva's crime thriller, based in Mumbai during Ganeshotsav

Since his debut into Bollywood with Pooja Bhatt’s Jism to his latest film Force 2, John Abraham has worked in a wide range of films. But his stint as an action hero has been really successful so far, be it Dhoom, Force or Madras Cafe — his tough-guy look has been received well by the audience. According to the DNA report, D’Silva’s upcoming film is based on Mark Manuel’s novel Moryaa Re — The Ganpati Murders, which is a crime thriller and revolves around the city of Mumbai during Ganeshotsav when a serial psychopathic killer is on the loose. The book’s  plot summary on Amazon, reads: “A sinister killer with a dark and twisted imagination is terrorizing the city with a series of chilling and gruesome murders every day. His victims are the innocent rich and famous. All celebrities or VIPs with one fault in common…” Abraham is touted to play the role of a tough cop investigating the murder mysteries. He is reportedly going to produce the film as well, reports DNA. D’Silva and Abraham have had several meetings regarding this project while the latter was shooting for Parmanu. Abraham has also told D’Silva about he sees the film progressing and has given the director instructions for the same. The film is currently being designed by D’Silva and the production work would commence as soon as Abraham gets done with The Invisible Guest remake, adds DNA’s report. D’Silva’s previous projects include Kurbaan (2009) starring Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan and the Indian version of the hit TV series 24, starring Anil Kapoor.

Abraham is currently busy working on  _Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran_ , which again is being backed by his production house. The film is based on Pokhran-II, the series of five nuclear bomb test explosions conducted in Rajasthan in 1998. It stars Diana Penty, Boman Irani along with Abraham and is slated to release on 8 December this year.
