Jawan: Priyamani on being placed next to Shah Rukh Khan in Zinda Banda, says 'he wanted us next to him'

With Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan fever ruling the nation, each day a new anecdote from the shooting days hits the audience. In the latest, popular south actress Priyamani recalled in an interview with Connect FM Canada_,_ how the 39-year-old was placed just behind SRK while rehearsing for the song ‘Zinda Banda’. The star_,_ who is part of King Khan’s girl gang in the movie, previously worked alongside Bollywood’s Baadshah in the song ‘One Two Three Four Get On The Dance Floor’ from the 2013 film Chennai Express.

As part of the conversation, the actress shed light on the fact that once she was placed behind Shah Rukh Khan during rehearsals, the superstar took special cognisance of where she had been positioned. Not only this, SRK went a step ahead to tell the film’s director Atlee and the song’s choreographer Shobi master to place her right next to him in case he forgets his dance steps. SRK fondly calls Priyamani her ‘dance teacher’ since they performed together in the hit dance number from Chennai Express.

Priyamani on being positioned behind SRK

After Shah Rukh Khan was attentive of where she was, the superstar asked Priyamani what she was doing behind him. To this, the Family Man actress replied that she had been placed behind him and that was what she had been told.

As the incident unfolded, Priyamani narrated that the _Pathaan_ star took her hand and caught her shoulder, just to make her stand next to him. In doing so, he told the film’s director and choreographer ‘I want this girl to stand next to me. I don’t care what the choreography is. I don’t get anything. She is my dance teacher right from Chennai Express. I don’t care if I get it wrong. I’m going to look at her only and we’ll do so’, Priyamani added.

Zinda Banda, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, elevates the track’s infectious energy. As per media reports, the song’s filming spanned five days, and the result was full of grandeur featuring Shah Rukh Khan’s unmatched energy and dance moves.

Talking further about the song’s choreography, Priyamani added, “So every step he asked me, ‘Tell me how you do.’ I said, ‘Sir, the hand is like this, the leg is like that and we have to just move this way." As visible in the song, while actress Sanya Malhotra is placed on his right, Priyamani can be spotted on his left. “So, he always wanted us next to him,” she continued.
