Bollywood, which is already under fire due to lack of originality, Jaat is far better than the trash we are being fed in the name of entertainment. The best thing about this movie is that though it is a complete masala film, there isn’t any exaggerated writing of any of the roles.
Sunny Deol looks absolutely dashing as Brigadier Baldev Pratap Singh. Jaat, directed by Gopichand Malineni, is a fictional action drama that explores themes of community dynamics in several coastal towns of Andhra Pradesh. It is not based on a true story, but it touches upon corruption at different levels, starting from the politicians, bureaucracy, and police force. Jaat is indeed a reasonably entertaining film in theaters after a very long time.
Sunny Deol plays his age and an army man who knows how to take charge of situations not only in the border, but within the country in a state which is infested by Sri Lankan terrorists. It is a complete mass action movie, but not mindless. It is a compelling story and shows the different hierarchies in the society and how the poor people are completely at the mercy of the corrupt politicians and criminals
The story is set up in a rural coastal village in Andhra Pradesh. Some ruthless terrorists from Sri Lanka enter the country and land up in one of the villages in Andhra Pradesh. Their only motive being to terrorise and take the entire land from them. The leader of this gang is Ranatunga ( Randeep Hooda ). The kinds of atrocities that Ranatunga and his gang do, there are instances where you will feel like turning your face from the screen and yet try to look at what is happening in the fear of missing out on something important. It is electrifying, immersive and engaging, all at the same time. The only thing that the makers could have toned down a little was the violence. But if you love the smell of blood, and if beheading men and chopping fingers gives you an instant high, you should give Jaat a try.
Sunny Deol starrer actioner Jaat is a complete massy and entertaining film. Randeep Hooda does the perfect role of a villain. But in some scenes, I felt that Vineet Kumar Singh, who has given us so many brilliant performances in the past, the way his role was written, was not as intense as Hooda’s. The first half was far better than the second half. In fact, the excessive beheading got a little bit irrelevant and repetitive. On the other hand, Regina Cassandra’s and Saiyami Kher’s roles are quite impactful, and they do complete justice to it. Toomany good actors and too many plots, as the craftsmen did justice to their roles, the writing does not explore the depth of the performances.
Jaat is a perfect theatre worthy movie and unapologetically brash. Most of the time while watching the film, you can feel the north south conflict which is just too harsh. An absolutely massy film which is good for a one-time watch. The emotions are high and so are the actions, so what are you waiting for, just head to the nearest cinema halls.
