‘Ishq Vishk’ fame and former MTV host Shenaz Treasury is now a successful and popular travel blogger and influencer on Instagram. Her recent video of why people are moving to Bali has sparked online debate.
The actress said in the video, “I pay more rent for my one bedroom apartment in Mumbai than my friend pays for her villa in Bali.”
She captioned it really long and said:
“Why are so many people moving to Bali?
1. Cost of Living vs. Lifestyle
• You can live in a villa with a pool for the same price (or less) than a 1BHK in Mumbai, London, or LA.
• Meals, massages, and transport are affordable — but the quality of life feels high.
2. Remote Work Heaven
• Strong expat community, co-working spaces, fast Wi-Fi (especially in Canggu & Ubud).
• Bali has become a global hub for entrepreneurs and digital creators who can work from anywhere.
3. Wellness Capital
• Yoga, healthy cafés, sound healing, retreats — Bali is basically a wellness playground.
• People burnt out by city life often move here to slow down and “heal.”
4. Creative Energy
• The vibe is laid-back, open-minded, and creative. Everyone’s working on something — a brand, a book, a business.
• You’re surrounded by people who left the 9-5 to build their dream life.
5. Nature + Spirituality
• Beaches, waterfalls, rice terraces, volcanoes — and a deeply spiritual culture.
• Bali’s Hindu roots mean temples, rituals, offerings — a constant reminder to pause and connect.
6. Visa Options
• Indonesia is offering longer stay digital nomad visas, making it easier for foreigners to settle for months or even years.
7. Social Life + Dating
• It’s easy to meet people from around the world — whether you’re at a beach club, a breathwork class, or a networking brunch.
• A mix of fun, flirtation, and freedom. Yes, I have been thinking about it but don’t wanna leave my parents! I’ve lived out of India for half their life and now that they are older I wanna be around.
What about you?!!”
What netizens are saying
These are the comments that are coming in:
Well, I can get triple times size of Home in my Hometown with half of this cost ! How is it comparable?
Its a wrong compare. There are equally cheaper places in other good places in India.
Bhai we work offline… so whatever the rent or cost of living.. we have ti stay in Mumbai… it’s unfair to compare 2 totally different cities. How about Tokyo, new York etc.
Omg I need to move to Bali - paying so much rent and just waking up to horns and pollution here.
