 "Is Kareena Kapoor Khan venturing into Hollywood after OTT debut 'Jaane Jaan' on Netflix?")
Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, whose much-awaited OTT debut film Jaane Jaan is set for release on 21 September, recently opened up about her plans for venturing into Hollywood. In a recent interview, the 42-year-old actress also revealed if her role as Maya D’ Souza, a protective mother in the upcoming mystery thriller, has been influenced by the real mother she is.
On plans to enter Hollywood
As per the interview with The Free Press Journal, Kareena Kapoor Khan asserted that looking at her packed schedule for now, there are “no temptations” to enter Hollywood. She stated, “There are no temptations since I am very busy. Also, I am a mother of two, therefore, I have to give them time. They are too young now."
On taking a cue from motherhood
A dedicated mother to her sons Tim and Jeh, the actress was asked if that has helped her portray the character of a mother in her upcoming Netflix project Jaane Jaan. To this, the 3 Idiots actress replied saying she had played a mother before, even in Shah Rukh Khan -starrer Ra One. She further added that she doesn’t connect her personal life to work.
Calling both aspects ‘different’, she added, “Some real motherly acts happen, there is no conscious effort to pick up anything I do as a real mom. Subconsciously, it may come into play.”
On her OTT debut
Kareena Kapoor Khan, while expressing happiness at “everything falling in place”, said that she always wanted to work on a thriller project with director Sujoy Ghosh and how the movie is a “perfect thriller”.
Interestingly, the movie is set to release on 21 September, which happens to be the Jab We Met star’s 43rd birthday. She said, “This film has been with Sujoy for 10 years but when he couldn’t put the cast together, he put this film on the back burner. I am happy that everything has fallen into place. I always wanted to do a thriller with Sujoy as he did a good job in Kahani. This was a perfect thriller in the right mood for us.”
On working with Sujoy and the team
Kareena Kapoor Khan expressed elation at working with director Sujoy Ghosh and the entire team. Calling the Kahaani 1 and 2 director ‘demanding’, the actress said “he wants everybody to know everything.”
She further added, “When you watch this thriller, you will feel it’s a film where everybody needs to be there solidly. We shot the film in Kalimpong.”

Kareena Kapoor Khan will next appear in Sujoy Ghosh’s Jaane Jaan as Maya D’Souza. The film is based on Keigo Hagashino’s bestselling novel, The Devotion Suspect X.
The actress made her Bollywood debut with Refugee in 2000. Over the years, she has been part of films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Heroine and Laal Singh Chaddha among others.
