'Ikkis' vs 'Dhurandhar' Box-Office Comparison: Agastya Nanda's film opens well despite Ranveer Singh's wave, collects Rs 7 crore on day 1

Sriram Raghavan’s war-drama Ikkis has opened well at the box-office despite the wave of Dhurandhar that’s still breaking records. The film based on the life of Arun Khetarpal was keenly anticipated for its narrative and also because it was the last release of the late Dharmendra.

_Ikkis_ has opened at Rs 7 crore on day one and all eyes are now on the weekend. It’s the first film of 2026 and already one of the most critically acclaimed ones. Ranveer Singh’s spy drama on the other hand collected Rs 17 crore on December 5.

What Ikkis is all about

This is a film based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, PVC, a fierce role that was earlier being played by Varun Dhawan. But it seems it was newbie Agastya Nanda who was destined to essay this soldier. Those who have watched the film will know that though it revolves around Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal (Agastya Nanda), but it is much more than just him.

Meet the reel characters of  _Ikkis_ who essay real-life characters:

Dharmendra: The late actor plays the role of Brigadier ML Khetarpal (Retd.), Arun Khetarpal’s father. This shall be the superstar’s last and posthumous release.  

Jaideep Ahlawat: Ahlawat has been given the role of Brigadier Khwaja Mohammed Naseer, Pakistan Army Officer.  

Rahul Dev as Lieutenant Colonel (Later Lieutenant General) Hanut Singh, MVC, commanding officer of Second Lt. Arun Khetarpal.

And veteran actress Suhasini Mulay will be playing the role of Nanda’s mother.
