'Hema Malini was made to dance': BJP MP Narottam Mishra faces flak for remark

The Dream Girl of Bollywood, Hema Malini, is one of the most-loved veteran actresses in the tinsel town. She has left an indelible mark on the industry with successful films including Sholay, Sapno Ka Saudagar, Johny Mera Naam, Seeta Aur Geeta, Baghban, and Veer Zaara. Recently, Hema Malini was embroiled in controversies as Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra insinuated that she was made to dance at a cultural program in Datia. A video of the state home minister making the speech has gone viral, leaving people infuriated. In the video, he could be heard humiliating the celebrated actress as he said, “Development at such a level in Datia that not only cultural programs were organised, but even Hema Malini was made to dance.” The BJP MLA’s remark prompted reactions from the opposition parties as the Janata Dal (United) called the statements ‘derogatory’. Congress too jumped onto the bandwagon. JD(U) dropped a post on X that read, “See the reality of shameless BJP members who criticise the character and appearance. Madhya Pradesh’s Home Minister Narottam Mishra has said such derogatory things about his own party’s MP Hema Malini.” Meanwhile, Congress leader Digvijay Singh slammed Mishra for his remark on the actress and said, “Listen to the real meanness of the honourable minister of cultured BJP towards women.
