Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam are coming together for a film called Haq. It’s a film that’s inspired by the Shah Bano case, a courtroom drama that looks impactful and explosive. The teaser has been shared by the makers and it’s all set to release in cinemas on November 7.
The trailer of the film was unveiled on October 27 at an event and gave us a bigger and better insight into the complexities of the narrative the drama has to offer.
What does the trailer offer?
A fierce story of one woman, a mother’s fight against the system and society, the trailer of HAQ stands as a testament to a no-holds-barred, gripping, and provocative drama. Produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, HAQ is inspired by a landmark Supreme Court judgment.
Why the film is poignant and powerful
HAQ serves as a timely reminder that courage, when combined with knowledge and resilience, can move mountains. The debate in the film may have begun in the 1980s, but its relevance and intensity can still be felt today. A relentless conflict between personal belief and secular law, the film is a nail-biting takedown of patriarchy.
Yami Gautam vs Emraan Hashmi
Standing tall opposite Gautam is Emraan Hashmi, playing both husband and a renowned lawyer. Their collision in the courtroom becomes a national debate on identity, love, and gender ideology.
The ensemble of the film
HAQ marks the debut of Vartika Singh in a pivotal, plot-twisting role and features powerhouse performers Sheeba Chaddha, Danish Hussain, and Aseem Hattangady. The film raises imperative questions - Should justice have a religion? Is it time for One Nation, One Law?
Inspired by true events, HAQ is a fictionalized and dramatized version of the story stated in the book Bano: Bharat Ki Beti, written by Jigna Vora.
