Gul Makai: Biopic of Malala Yousafzai to be screened in London for UN, IIMSAM representatives

_Gul Makai_ , the film based on the life of Pakistani activist and the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, will have a special screening for 450 dignitaries, including representatives from the United Nations (UN) and the Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-aalgae Spirulina Against Malnutrition (IIMSAM), as well as members of Indian, Pakistan and British High Commissions. The screening will take place in London on 25 January and will also be attented by Malala and her parents, Mumbai Mirror reports. [caption id=“attachment_4726921” align=“alignnone” width=“825”] A still from Gul Makai.[/caption] Director Amjad Khan said the had to pull a lot of strings to make the screening happen. He said both the UN and the IIMSAM agreed for him to use the organisations’ logos in the film. He further said that the makers are looking to release the film in April, after the end of the examination season. Another screening for Gul Makai is scheduled for mid-February at the UN headquarters in New York. The film stars Reem Shaikh as Malala, along with Divya Dutta and Atul Kulkarni as her parents. The film is about Malala’s widely recognised fight for education and peace in a Pakistan plagued by several terrorist groups. The  poster  of the film, unveiled in July last year, read, “One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world.” The biopic will capture Malala’s journey from Pakistan’s Swat Valley to her efforts in getting the children of Pakistan to school.
