Amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, a strong debate has surfaced between the supporters of Israel and those supporting the Palestinian people. In such a situation when celebrities have also come forward voicing feelings of solidarity and showing support for either Israel or Palestine, Gigi Hadid has once again displayed her support towards Palestinian people, considering her close relations to Palestine. Days after sharing a long note in the wake of the ongoing war, the supermodel took to Instagram and shared another post, expressing disappointment over the disturbing one-sided narrative being presented in the backdrop of the war. The supermodel also criticised Israel for labelling Palestinian supporters as “terrorists.” Taking to her Instagram story, Gigi shared a video of a news report, claiming that Israelis have said that some Palestinian women and children are terrorists. “Israel sees any Palestinian as a “terrorist,” Any person supporting Palestinian rights as an “antisemite,” and any Jew that is opposed to the government’s actions as “self-hating,” - even telling them to denounce their Judaism. So… everyone’s lying and wrong, except Israel?!! If it wasn’t so evil & disturbing, it would be comedic,” she wrote in the IG story.
The actress also shared a few other posts on her Instagram stories, related to the detainment of Palestinian children by Israel. Gigi Hadid’s statement amid Israel-Hamas war Earlier in October, the 28-year-old model, who has been herself a person of Palestinian origin shared a long note expressing her solidarity with those affected by the tragedy of the war. “I have deep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation; it’s a responsibility I hold daily. I also feel a responsibility to my Jewish friends to make it clear, as I have before: While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person,” a part of her post read.
For the unversed, the Hadid sisters are closely related to Palestine. Their father, Mohamed Anwar Hadid, was born into a Palestinian Muslim household. That being said, Gigi’s father had also reacted to the conflict, blaming the Israeli government for the “massive escalation between the occupied and the occupier” in an explosive Instagram post.
