Warning: Spoilers ahead The finale of Game of Thrones’ fourth season was one of the longest episodes of the show at 66 minutes and delivered hardened Game of Thrones fans a fresh shock. The episode was named “The Children” and given that it aired on Father’s Day it offered one of the biggest surprises to the show’s fans. SPOILERS FOLLOW: Tyrion killed his father Lord Tywin Lannister in the end, after catching his father in bed with his own lover Shae. But as this piece in The Verge notes, “the scene was miserable, gloomy; revenge without catharsis.” For fans though, Tyrion’s revenge was especially sweet given that it came on father’s day. It should be noted that the season began with the death of Joffrey which gave fans something to cheer about, especially since they were still smarting after the horror of the death of Robb Stark, his mother, his wife and his pet direwolf in last season’s Red Wedding. [caption id=“attachment_1572413” align=“alignleft” width=“380”] Image from Facebook[/caption] In other noteworthy parts of the episode , Jon Snow walks alone to find Mance Rayder and find him but before the two can broker a deal Stannis’ army comes arrives at the Black Castle. However Stannis listen Snow and and takes Mance prisoner. Dany is now forced to chain her two dragons as she fights to free people from slavery after she discovers that the dragons have been killing and eating children. Brienne gives the Hound quite a beating, while Arya boards a ship to Braavos. As usual, Twitter was full of reactions to the episode and here are some of the best ones. For now, fans of the show will have to wait for Season 5. Meanwhile those who’ve read the books will probably not be looking forward to Book Six given that it could confirm their worst fears.
