Injecting anti-oxidants straight into the blood stream is taking the internet by a storm. Intravenous infusion makes one’s skin glow. But how safe are these?

An IV drip is intravenous, which means it passes the medicine directly into the bloodstream. For medical purposes this is usually given when the dosage is highly concentrated or when the patient can’t consume the medicine orally. While IV drips are normally used to treat dehydration

It is usually used in hospitals to give fluids to patients, but now it is a global beauty trend that is followed by Kim Kardashian , Adele and Hailey Bieber. Beauty drips helps in direct absorption of anti-oxidants. Intravenous drips put vitamins and minerals directly into your bloodstream, maximising uptake and absorption. Beauty clinics are offering IV drips that promise to boost the skin and reduce symptoms of ageing

It is the latest beauty trend hailed by beauticians. According to reports published in Vogue, there are drips which contain glutathione, an antioxidant usually administered on patients with liver disease, but which may help reduce hyperpigmentation (though there is no valid study to support its usage for the latter). An IV drip is given only when there are genuine deficiencies.
