Technical aspects and performances
Family dramas makes for a light hearted watch that everyone yearns for in today’s time. Prashant Bhagia has directed the series with several fresh perspectives. The crucial highlight of the series is impeccable writing nu Durgesh Singh. He makes sure to weave a narrative that is relatable. We witness patriarchy around women, but he also showcases how it can curbed with progressive thinking. He also highlights importance of girls education. We also see how certain elements are familiar. For instance the brotherhood, love and hate relationship and societal pressure a men goes through which no one talks about. The most important quality of the show is the rawness in the way it shows this household’s problems. Another notable thing that I loved in the show is the UP accent that has been picked by each of these main characters with absolute ease.
The cast can rightly be called as stars of the series. Bhuvan Arora captures the essence of small-town timid boy convincingly. He is the protective brother who struggles to juggle between family needs and taking care of his brother. However, like most Indian students, Poojan Chhabra as Vimal doesn’t get to make a decision about his own education and is ultimately made to go Allahabad. The brotherhood between two is totally relatable. Priyal Mahajan as Geetanjali is a progressive women every society needs. While Shabnam and Rajesh’s banter gets as original as they can. Not to miss, Gopal Dutt lends right amount of support and brings an unexpected twist in the tale that leaves us all emotional.
Verdict
Fisaadi is undoubtedly a fun, entertaining and relatable watch that should not be missed. It is been an extraordinary tale of a middle-class family that takes you on a rollercoaster ride of gloom, love and joy.
