Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal, which turned out to be one of the biggest grossers in the history of Indian cinema, garnered criticism from a section of audience along with celebs like Javed Akhtar, Swanand Kirkire, Kangana and others.
And at the Red Sea International Film Festival 2024, the actor spoke about the film. Ranbir Kapoor said, “When a film like Animal was offered I was so scared, I had to take that leap of faith. But I knew it could affect my image Being safe is very boring. Very important to constantly reinvent yourself I take great pride in owning my failures I like to learn from mistakes.”
Ranbir Kapoor also remembered his father and actor Rishi Kapoor. This is what the actor had to say, “He was always busy with movies and we were always petrified of him as he was always short tempered. But when I assisted him, those four months of sharing the room with him, being in different parts of the world, that’s the greatest film school, being on a film set. First you read a scene and how a director envisions it, what kind of direction he gives to the actors, the energies, so just being there teaches you everything.”
On Sanjay Dutt’s biopic
It was an extremely daunting task as I was doing a biopic of a very very big movie star who’s still very much working. I’ve known Sanjay Dutt ever since I was born, he has always been a dear family friend. Life came full circle when I was offered his biopic by Mr. Rajkumar Hirani, one of the finest directors we have. The way he was telling the story, it was all there on paper. It was not a burden but a responsibility to portray him in the best way possible. He was very very particular about not to make him caricaturist. It was hard initially to find the right balance. It was a story I believe people could learn from.
