Undoubtedly, biopics play big at the box office. They are a proven success formula in the Bollywood industry. Be it M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Sanju, or Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, all of them rule the hearts of the audience and muster immense love and praise from the critics. Returning to the turnstiles of hope and resilience, filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra maps the inspiring journey of a lad from a very small town in the Chambal region (the famous home of dacoits in northern India) who overcomes poverty and corruption to pass the toughest exam in the country and become an IAS officer. Commending the film, director Tanuja Chandra shared a long post expressing how much she loved the story. She praised the film’s director and called all the aspects of the film ‘simply wonderful’. Tanuja Chandra Showers Praise On Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail Sharing a couple of pictures from the premiere of Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail, Tanuja Chandra captioned, “It was a standing ovation amidst tears at the premiere of the inspiring and beautiful ‘12th Fail.’ Congratulations to VC for his unending cinematic passion (seen here with my parents) and to his team for this achievement.” “I have no doubt it will stir the hearts of viewers, and if we’re lucky, spark hope, compassion, and honesty. It’s based on a true story, after all. The writing, the acting, the production, and all the technical aspects are simply wonderful. This is the love and stark attention storytelling deserves and must receive,” the director added.
All about 12th Fail There have been numerous movies and web series depicting the struggles and journeys of UPSC aspirants with high aspirations, and 12th Fail is no exception to that. But what makes Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s film stand out is the emotional and inspiring journey of the Hindi medium lad Manoj (played by Vikrant Massey) from the arid lands of Chambal, who struggles against all odds to compete in the civil services in Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar, finally becoming the IAS officer. The story may feel very repetitive to many, but the film will leave viewers with tears of joy and glued to their screens throughout the film. Apart from Vikrant Massey, Joshi Anantvijay, Sanjay Bishnoi, Anshuman Pushkar, and Medha Shankar also played pivotal roles in the film. The film released in theatres today, 27 October.
