Shilpa Shirodkar, who featured in popular 90s films like Gopi Kishan, Hum, Khuda Gawah and others, was one of the contestants in Bigg Boss 18.
In a recent interaction, the veteran actress was considered for the dance number Chhaiya Chhaiya in Dil Se alongside Shah Rukh Khan but was replaced by Malaika Arora due to concerns about her weight. Now, choreographer Farah Khan revealed the reason behind this decision.
“I came to Shilpa to ask her for ‘Chhaiya Chhaiya.’ But something must have happened to her because at that time, she was at least 100 kgs. So I thought, ‘How will she get on the train? And if she gets on, where will Shah Rukh stand?’" Farah said to Karanveer Mehra on her YouTube channel.
After Shilpa Shirodkar, the song was offered to Raveena Tandon and Shilpa Shetty and both of them rejected for personal reasons.
“I didn’t get it because I was fat. They just said that I am fat," Shilpa Shirodkar spoke about getting rejected for the song while talking to Siddharth Kannan. “I will always feel bad that I didn’t get ‘Chhaiya Chhaiya,’ but God gave me much more, and He is still giving me," she added.

Revealing what Farah Khan told her at that time, Shilpa asserted, “She just said that we will work some other time because they are looking for someone else. ‘You are a little fatter.’ Something like this… I don’t even remember anymore. I know I missed it because I was fat."
