And in an exclusive interview with Firstpost, the leads chatted about the concept of the film, their respective characters, and what they would so if they met these fictional people in real.

Edited excerpts from the interview

What exactly happens in the end in the meeting between you and Amol. Is it a reality or a dream?

Mithila: I would want the audience to know and experience after they watch it as well because that’s the fun of it. If they exist or not, if they experienced the same plane of universe or not. That’s the experience for the audience to watch.

Amol: When we make part two of this dream universe, only then we will come to know.

How much do you both relate to the plot about meeting someone in your dreams and seeing someone else in real life?

Mithila (Laughs): Firstly, I don’t remember my dreams so I could barely relate to that part of the dream. I would never remember the person so vividly as my character does. There was very little in terms of relatability in real life. But it was exciting to be able to live that reality of that character and experience that on her behalf. That exploration is something I experienced for the first time because I don’t remember my dreams. It was fun to feel that motion as I went with it.

Amol: It’s very difficult to have a clear picture of a strange person. I have not experienced this recurring dream. The relatability comes into the picture when I have to react to something like this happens to me in real. You have assumed this is happening with me and my character in real. Have never seen somebody in my dreams so clearly. It’s a little Fantastical premise which is why it is a film and not happening to us in real. But how is somebody going to react if meet somebody they saw in their dreams?

Mithila, be it Little Things or Sweet Dreams, we see relationships that are charming and yet complex and conflicted. And they both drop a lot of truth bombs. The way we tell love stories or any story, how much of it has changed?

If I solely talk about something like Sweet Dreams, I feel it’s fairly a young love story that’s happening in the current generation and people would be able to relate to. In these two stories that I have been a part of, that’s essentially the different but the core of the story is highly relatable. These people can be like you and me, so they are very real in their existence and may be experiencing things you may not have even imagined for yourself. That’s the difference between these stories.

Amol, how did your prep for the role?

For a role like this, the amount and time for prep is not much. I would spend a lot more time if I had to play something very different from my daily life. In this case, the story and the characters are charming and relatable, you see yourself or your friends in them. The idea is to make it real and relatable. In some cases, I decide how much prep I need to do. In this case, it was more about not overthinking and be present in the moment and be open to that. The prep is to be in a certain frame of mind.

Mithila. your friend says you’re craving for attention. Not as your character but as Mithila, what would you like to tell your character if she had to seek your advice?

I enjoyed the fact that she was trying to chase her dreams and dream man. She chose to go with the flow in that sense. As much as I try to do that, I take risks but very calculated risks. It felt nice to feel young and fresh and go with the flow. I don’t want to give her any advice, I enjoyed being in that process with Dia.
