EXCLUSIVE | ‘Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’ actor Vikrant Massey on Deepika Padukone's eight-hour shift: ‘If I cannot give twelve-hours a day, then I need to reduce my fee’

In a recent interview with Firstpost’s Lachmi Deb Roy, _‘_Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’ actor Vikrant Massey said that there are a lot of things involved in making a film and money plays a very important role. However, how many hours one should work is entirely a personal choice. Though, he respects and aspires to do what Deepika Padukone has done one day and choose how much he wishes to work and for how long. But at the same time he mentions, if I cannot give 12-hours to my producer then I must reduce my fee."

 Vikrant Massey will soon be seen with Shanaya Kapoor in ‘ Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan’ releasing in theatres on 11th July.

What do you have to say about this eight-hour shift put forward by Deepika Padukone? Do you think it’s going to work as everybody needs time to rejuvenate?

I hope it does. I aspire to do something like that very soon. And I hope to achieve that. Maybe in a couple of years…I want to go out and say, we can collaborate, but I would only work for eight hours. But at the same time, it should be a choice. And if my producer cannot accommodate that because there are also a lot of other things involved. Money plays a very important role and I will have to reduce my fees as I will be working for eight hours.

If I cannot give my producer twelve hours a day, I cannot go out there and not reduce my fee. I ought to reduce my fee. It’s a give and take. Right? So, yes, I think it definitely works. And as a young mother, I think Deepika truly deserves it!

I remember one of your social media posts went viral saying that I’m taking a break and they thought you are taking a retirement. Everybody said, what’s going to happen?

People misconstrued it as retirement. People still ask the same question… They think a break is retirement. And I still feel work life balance is very, very important. I had put that tweet out because I wanted to go back home and spend some time with my kid and my wife and my family. And, it is imperative that we go back home and recalibrate, not just as actors, as people. I think we are all running at such speeds. I don’t know for what, but the idea is to sort of just go ground yourself and recalibrate yourself, find your centre again, and I think that only happens with family.
