Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa starrer Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has finally taken over Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Thamma on its 2nd Monday and 3rd Tuesday at the box office.
While the strong trend would have helped the film to achieve this feat earlier, the Aditya Sarpotdar directorial was floating by the Buy One Get One Free offer on various days. While both films clashed at the box office on 21st October, EDKD earned around Rs 1.50 crore and Rs 2.10 crore on its 14th and 15th day, compared to Thamma’s Rs 1.30 crore and Rs 1.90 crore.
While Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat currently stands at the grand total of around Rs 70 crore, Thamma faced a massive dip in its 2nd week and has inched closer to the Rs 130 crore mark.
Rane , the leading man of the film, recently went at a multiplex to check the reaction of the film and thank the audience for their love for both his film and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma. Since there will be multiple releases this week, it would be interesting to see how Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat perform at the ticket windows.
The actor said, “This Diwali, you supported the films of two outsiders. Ayushmann Khurrana’s film has released along with mine. Watch both the films, please, and enjoy both. This sends a good message out that aap logon ne akele poora ka poora Bollywood se nepotism hi khatm kar diya (you people alone finished nepotism from the entire Bollywood)."
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat also features Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan in key roles.
