Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s new movie “Sardaar Ji 3” only released in overseas territories following controversy and calls for boycott over the casting of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir.
The movie, the third in Dosanjh’s horror comedy franchise, released in theatres outside India on June 27.
Dosanjh has been receiving backlash for his film ‘Sardaar Ji 3,’ which features Pakistani artist Hania Aamir, with many users asking to boycott him. And now, the Punjabi singer, while performing recently at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, addressed the controversy.
Dosanjh could be heard saying, “When my film Sardaar Ji 3 was shot in February, the matches were being played. After that, the tragic Pahalgam terror attack happened.”
The singer added, “At that time, and even now, we have always prayed that the terrorists should receive the strictest punishment. The difference is that my film was shot before the attack, and the match was played afterwards.”
“I have many answers, but I kept quiet, kept everything inside me. I didn’t speak. I have many answers. Whoever tells you anything, you shouldn’t take that poison inside you. I’ve learnt that from life. So I didn’t say anything… There are a lot more things to say, but I don’t want to do that,” added Diljit Dosanjh.
Directed by Amar Hundal, the film is the third sequel of the Punjabi horror comedy franchise. It is produced by Gunbir Singh Sidhu and Manmord Sidhu of White Hill Studios alongside Story Time Productions.
Film Body slams the actor-singer
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) President, BN Tiwari told NDTV, “There will be complete non co-operation. If the film releases anywhere, we will issue a directive of non co-operation. We will ensure that Diljit Dosanjh won’t get work (films or concerts) in any part of India.”
“If he doesn’t withdraw the release of the film, he won’t get work in India,” BN Tiwari added.
