Did actor Imran Khan take a dig at Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal' by saying 'Uncomfortable with violence being glamorized?'

Bollywood actor Imran Khan was last seen in the 2015 Katti Batti after which he took a sabbatical from acting and has been trying to make a comeback. The actor was speaking to Film Companion recently where he opened up about the portrayal of violence in Hindi cinema today.

He was quoted saying, “I have a sense about where cinema is these days. There is a glamourization and a fetishization and sexualisation of violence that makes me uncomfortable. There is a way to portray violence. This is not a morality thing. Violence and action are… it is a language in cinema but when we communicate it, when we portray it in films, there is a way to do it where you feel the weight of it."

“The Joker film, which came out a couple of years ago, there’s a scene in which he attacks a guy suddenly and stabs him to death. I remember watching that scene play out and it was shattering, brutal and horrifying. I was shaking… because that’s what violence is. If you see someone stabbed to death, you’ll be shaking,” he added.

The actor also caught everyone’s attention in 2019 after he separated from his ex-wife Avantika Malik. Now, the actor has seemingly moved on as he is dating actor Lekha Washington. During a recent interaction with Vogue India, he confirmed his relationship with Lekha and also opened up about his divorce from ex-wife.

Imran Khan  , during the interaction, said that he finds the narrative around Lekha being a “homewrecker” infuriating. He said, “The speculation that I’m romantically involved with Lekha Washington is true. I’m divorced and have been separated since February 2019.” Recalling the time when he grew close to Lekha, the actor added, “Lekha and I grew close during the lockdown, a year and a half after I had been separated from Avantika and almost a year after she had separated from her partner, not husband, as it has been widely reported.”
