Dhanush was also scheduled to begin shooting for the sequel of Vada Chennai but reportedly, he wants to take a break from the character before he could get into the zone again. Asuran, thus, came in as a welcome change for Dhanush. The feature sees the actor collaborate with Vada Chennai helmer Vetrimaaran, who also led the actor in Pollathavan and Aadukalam. Asuran will be the fourth feature that Dhanush and Vetrimaaran will collaborate on. Their best known work includes names such as Aadukalam, that won the actor a National Award. GV Prakash Kumar has now been attached as the music composer of the Dhanush-starrer. The first look featured the actor as a simpleton with a heavy moustache and yellow-ing teeth.
