Deepika Padukone says she had a 'complicated pregnancy,' reveals 'Refused to meet a director for my daughter and he said...'

Deepika Padukone recently gave a tell-all interview and spoke about her complicated pregnancy and how she refused to meet a director since she wanted to spend time with her daughter Dua.

In a conversation with Marie Claire, Deepika said, “I went through a lot in the eight, nine months of being pregnant.” She added, “Ever since my sister Anisha was born, my maternal instincts kicked in.”

The actress continued, “Nurturing and protecting come to me very naturally,” she shared, adding that she didn’t face societal pressure to have a baby, it was more about the right time.”

She also said, “Ranveer was like, ‘It’s your body. Yes, it’s a together decision, but eventually it’s your body that’s going to go through it. So whenever you feel ready.’”

On refusing to meet a director

The actress said, “He turned around and said, ‘Oh, looks like she’s taking motherhood very seriously.”

She added, “I don’t know if that was a compliment or a jab. What does that mean, taking motherhood seriously? Yeah!”

Deepika Padukone continues to write and rewrite history at the box-office. In 2023, she had two consecutive 1000 crore blockbusters- Jawan and Pathaan. And this year, she’s all set to have another massive money spinner with Kalki 2898 AD. The speed at which this magnum opus is going at the ticket windows, it should enter the 1000 crore club soon.

Taking to her Instagram handle, PV Sindhu posted a still of Deepika Padukone in her role as Sumathi from Kalki 2898 AD. The actress looked mesmerizing in the image, showcasing her compelling on-screen presence. Sindhu praised Deepika’s performance with a heartfelt message, expressing her awe with a simple “Just wow. @deepikapadukone”

While talking to Firstpost, trade expert Ramesh Bala had predicted the humongous collection of the movie and had said, “See, basically the movie has done the business of Rs 300 crores in two days, which means Friday and Saturday. It can cross 500 crores by Sunday night, which is still a good number. Then you are looking at weekdays there will be a weekday drop. So, we have to just see how much is the weekday drop. And certainly next weekend it will pick up. So, eventually, it shouldn’t be a problem. I think it may not have the greatest hold on Monday. It will be like an average hold still that I think overall given the second weekend, third weekend and overall it should reasonably do big numbers, lifetime.”
