Actor-producer Sohum Shah has always been impressed with his unconventional and out-of-the-box content, such as Ship of Theseus and Tumbbad. This time, the talented and versatile personality has collaborated with Girish Kohli for Crazxy. While the trailer and songs garnered tremendous response, does it fulfil the expectations of cinegoers? Let’s find out…
On 1st April, Dr Abhimanyu Sood (Sohum Shah) is seen going to the hospital carrying Rs 5 crore, which he is supposed to give to one of his dead patient’s family as an out-of-the-court settlement, who died because of his and the hospital’s negligence.
While he is on the way, he receives a call from an unknown, who tells him that he has kidnapped his daughter named Vedica and asks for a ransom of Rs 5 crore. Now, if he didn’t give that money to the dead patient’s family he would be behind bars. Also, he is a questionable person and a bad father as he wanted to abort her daughter when he came to know that she was diagnosed with Down syndrome. He broke his marriage with Bobby (ex-wife) because of Vedica and shouted at her that he is ashamed of Vedica and wanted a smart and intelligent daughter like him.
At first, Abhimanyu thinks it is a prank call, only to realize later that she has been kidnapped after he sees her daughter through a video call from the kidnapper’s phone, who happens to be her school sir named Prasad (Tinnu Anand).
So, what path will Abhimanyu choose? Will he think about himself or save his daughter’s life? Well, for that, you have to watch _Crazxy_ on the big screen, which takes you on a crazy and adventurous ride.
Writer and director, Girish Kohli, who previously penned movies like Kesari, Mom and HIT: The First Case, comes up with solid content, which leaves you engrossed and surprised due to its solid twists and turns.
Well, it’s tough to make an entertaining film with just one character on the screen but hats off to Girish and Sohum for pulling this off with smooth and ease.
The film deserves extra brownie points for its brilliant technical aspects. Sanyukta Kaza and Rythem Lath’s crisp editing skills are simply magical as they make the fast-paced thriller a gripping watch with a runtime of just over 90 minutes. DoPs Sunil Ramkrishna Borkar and Kuldeep Mamania have captured the essence of the genre and added depth to the cinematic experience of Crazxy. The amazing combo of legendary lyricist Gulzar and composer Vishal Bhardwaj contributed beautifully with their compositions, which blended beautifully with the theme of the movie.
Talking about the performance, it’s Sohum Shah’s show all the way and the actor has once again left us in awe of not only his acting mettle but also of picking up the unique and authentic storyline.
On the whole, Crazxy is easily one of the best Bollywood thrillers in recent times and must be watched on the big screen to enjoy the engrossing experience.
