Comedian Samay Raina in major trouble again post 'India's Got Latent' row, summoned by Supreme Court for mocking disabled people

Comedian Samay Raina said earlier this year he had removed all episodes of “India’s Got Latent” from his YouTube channel, days after the show landed in a controversy over a remark by influencer Ranveer Allahbadia.

In his first response since the controversy erupted earlier this week, Raina said he will fully cooperate with all the investigating agencies in their probe.

“Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all ‘India’s Got Latent’ videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you,” Raina, 27, posted on X.

The other stand up comedians that were summoned were Nishant Jagdish Tanwar, Sonali Thakar, Vipul Goyal and Balraj Paramjeet Singh Ghai, along with Raina for mocking disabled people.

“We are really disturbed by the allegations. We place such instances on record, implead the concerned persons, and suggest measures. Then we will see,” said Justice Surya Kant during the proceedings.

Samay Raina finally reacted to Ranveer Allahbadia’s controvery on his show India’s Got Latent, where the podcaster made distasteful ‘parents sex joke’. He appeared before the Maharashtra Cyber Police in Navi Mumbai on Monday and expressed regret over the remarks and shared that they were made in the heat of the moment.

“I feel deep regret for what I said. It happened in the flow of the show, and I had no intention of saying it," Raina said in his statement. “I realise that what I said was wrong," he added.
