The band’s founder Greg Steven, while talking about his ‘Album X’ said, “The title is meant to mean, like, a few different things, but mostly sort of just like ex loves, you know, like ex romances, ex girlfriends, ex relationships. You know? It’s kind of what it mostly means.”

When asked if there was any any personal touch to it, he said, “The main reason I wanted to call it X was these photos of Marilyn Monroe that I actually saw, that were taken by Bert Stern in, like, the sixties. And it’s these photos of Marilyn Monroe where, I guess, she put, like, x’s on tops of on top of the ones she didn’t like, like, the photos she didn’t like. So those photos have this, like, really kind of surreal, iconic quality just because it’s a photo of Marilyn Monroe, and it’s there’s, like, a big X drawn to it.”

Talking about his trip to India and what he likes about the country, Greg said, “Indian fans are some of our most passionate for sure, and they always have been. When we first took off in 2015, India was one of the first countries that really was behind us and supported us. We’ve been there many times, and it’s been great. So it’s really just that. It’s just you know, it’s such a passionate fan base. Our Indian fans are very romantic people and very spiritual and incredibly kind, so it’s a wonderful thing to go visit India and see them again. And we’ve had some really incredible times. I’m looking forward to this next tour. We can go to a few more cities.

On Indian music

Indian music, I love too. There’s an AR Rahman and stuff like that. I knew that kind of music just because there’s so much. I like Rahman’s Bombay theme a lot.

And then even stuff like Ananda Shankar, I loved a lot. Some of the new stuff I need to check out. Like, I need to kinda figure out, like, you know, some new stuff to listen to, but I always loved to do music and the style that it has. And, like I said, a lot of the Bollywood music was really cool to me. Bollywood music is cool.

He even spoke about the song Naatu Naatu from RRR and said, “There’s incredible dancing in there.”

On his upcoming slate

So, every time we put, like, a new album out, I always like to go record another one at the same time. So that’s what we did this time. So maybe next spring, we’ll have something new, something different.”

When asked about his time in Mumbai, Greg revealed, “In Bombay, we’ve the best thing I did in Bombay was going to boat ride, and that was a lot of fun. That was great.”
