Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2 teaser: Kiernan Shipka embraces her dark side in upcoming season
Netflix gave a glimpse of what the audience should expect from the upcoming Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2 with a teaser trailer on 1 December. The clip begins with a now platinum blonde Sabrina Spellman (played by Kiernan Shipka) magically switching her outfits in front of her mirror, finally deciding on a black one.
"Since when do you wear black? Trying to be edgy?," asks Aunt Zelda (Miranda Otto). To this, Sabrina replies, "It's a new year!"
The new season has plenty of witchcraft in store for viewers as the teaser has a montage of Sabrina participating in a ceremony along with the Weird Sisters, facing off with a wolf in the woods and conducting a ritual of sorts at her high school. Her romantic life also seems to have taken a turn after things go south with Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch). She is seen sharing a dance with Nick Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood).
"A lot of season one was Sabrina trying to stay in the mortal world, even as she kind of got deeper, further along the path [of Night]. She was always trying to keep one foot in the mortal world and that was sort of where her center of gravity was. At the end of season one, what the ending seems to promise is that her base of operations has shifted. It's now not that she goes to Baxter High and after school goes to the Academy, it's now she goes to the Academy, and will she have any time [for the mortal world], and how much or how little will she relate to her previous mortal life is, I think, the question that we end on," showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told E!News.
Along with the teaser, the release date of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 2 was also revealed. Netflix will premiere the show on 5 April, 2019.
