Following the pivotal development in which late singer Sidhu Moosewala’s parents recently welcomed a baby boy, the central government has flagged the age limit for conceiving a child via the IVF method. Reportedly, the mother of the late singer, Charan Kaur, 58, had conceived the child through the In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) technique two years after Moosewala was shot dead in Mansa district, Punjab.
The Union Health Ministry, in a letter to the Punjab government, sought a report regarding the IVF treatment of the mother of Sidhu Moosewala. In the letter, it was pointed out that the age limit for IVF is 21-50 years. The letter read, “Under Section 21(g)(i) of the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, the age limit prescribed for a woman going under ART Services is between 21-50 years.”
The Center’s move also comes amid claims that Mrs Kaur took help from abroad. The Tribune quoted a government source as informing that Charan Kaur and her husband Balkaur Singh have “used the IVF facility abroad as a woman accessing ART facilities in India is mandated to be aged 21 to 50 years by law.”
In an Instagram video on Tuesday, Balkaur Singh, the father of the late singer, accused the state government of harassment. He said that the Bhagwant Mann-led government is asking to furnish documents of the baby. In the video, he can be heard saying, “The district is harassing me that I furnish documents about the child. I request the government and the Chief Minister, to let the treatment get over. I will show up whenever I am asked to appear. I assure you that I will show all legal documents.”
Announcing the birth of his second son, Balkaur Singh , 60, shared a picture on his Instagram handle. In the picture, he can be seen holding the newborn in his arms. Accompanying the photo was a heart-warming caption in Punjabi that can be loosely translated as, “With the blessings of millions of souls who love Shubdeep, the Almighty has put Shubh’s younger brother in our bag. With the blessings of Waheguru, the family is healthy and thankful to all the well-wishers for their immense love.”
