In November, screenwriter James Ivory, who wrote the screenplay for the film adaption told The Film Stage that Aciman had laughed at the idea of a sequel. “He said it was not a good idea,” he told the publication.

Call Me By Your Name, the final installment in director Luca Guadagnino’s thematic “Desire” trilogy, after I Am Love (2009) and A Bigger Splash (2015), chronicles the romantic liaisons of 17-year-old Elio and his professor father’s 24-year-old graduate-student assistant Oliver. The coming-of-age romantic tale was adapted by Guadagnino and Ivory, which saw Timothée Chalamet playing the role of young Elio, alongside Hammer.
