YouTube[/caption] The film revolves around a government clerk, played by Rao, who resolves to conduct a free and fair election in the political turmoil-hit central India. In an exclusive interview to _Firstpost_ , Rao had expressed his excitement about the upcoming film. “I am glad to have done this film. It has apne desh ki mitti ki khushbu.” Going by Rao’s words and the central theme of the film, the makers had planned to release it immediately after the Independence Day. But now, on 15 August, they took the opportunity to announce the new release date through a teaser of the film. The teaser opens with Sanjay Mishra explaining the electoral assets that India boasts of. His comment on Indian electoral politics comes across as rather interesting. The teaser then takes us to Rao, a clerk, who decides to improve the deteriorating condition of Indian elections. It is his reference to Newton’s Third Law, action equals reaction, that the title of the film gains significance. Owing to the push in the release, Rao can enjoy a solo release this Friday with Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s romantic comedy Bareilly Ki Barfi in which he plays a supporting role. At this rate, Rao is giving us a film every month. Earlier this year, he was seen in Vikramaditya Motwane’s survival drama Trapped, Dinesh Vijan’s romantic thriller Raabta and Ajay K Pannalal’s romantic comedy Behen Hogi Teri. Besides Bareilly Ki Barfi and Newton, he will also be seen in Hansal Mehta's _Omerta_ and Abhay Chopra’s thriller Ittefaq later this year along with Mehta’s web series Bose: Dead or Alive on Ekta Kapoor’s streaming service ALT Balaji. Newton also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Raghuvir Yadav and Anjali Patil. It is produced by Manish Mundra’s Drisyam Films. It won big in the festival circuit, including at the Berlin Film Festival ( where it premiered ) and the Hong Kong Film Festival this year.
Rajkummar Rao’s Newton was initially scheduled to release this Friday on 18 August along with his romantic comedy, Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s Bareilly Ki Barfi.
