'Nazm Nazm': Ayushmann Khurrana's earnestness infuses life into this Bareilly Ki Barfi song

The first song of Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s upcoming romantic comedy Bareilly Ki Barfi, ‘ Sweety Tera Drama ’, had small town charm peppered all over it. The second song, ‘Nazm Nazm’ follows the same path as it has celebrates small town moments such as playing sitolia, dancing in a baraat and bonding over letters. YouTube[/caption] However, the highlight of the second song is Ayushmann Khurrana who infuses life into his character through his endearing expressions and flawless lip-sync. His body language reflects the butterflies in his stomach as he gradually falls in love with Kriti Sanon’s character. Kriti has little to do in the song besides looking lively. Though she owned the first song with her impeccable dance moves, the second song if from Khurrana’s perspective which explains her passive involvement. What the song seems to achieve commendably is carrying forward the narrative of the film. It shows how Khurrana writes letters to Sanon, masquerading as the writer of the novel, Bareilly Ki Barfi, that Sanon is a fan of. In one of the scenes, she is seen running after a guy on the bike who tries to flirt with her. Her aversion to desperate men is possibly what drives Khurrana to later introduce Rajkummar Rao as the perverse writer that Sanon wants to meet. As far as the technicalities of the song are concerned, it makes for a memorable one thanks to the one man army - Arko Pravo Mukherjee who has not only sung and composed the track but also penned the words. His melodious voice, coupled with Khurrana’s earnest performance, makes this one a favourite from the album. Bareilly Ki Barfi is co-produced by Junglee Pictures and BR Studios. It is slated to release on 18 September along with Apurva Lakhia’s crime biopic Haseena Parkar.
