The trailer of Ashwini Iyer Tiwari's romantic comedy Bareilly Ki Barfi transported the viewers to the tier-2 India. Now, its first song has poured down small town charm all over them with the irresistible 'Sweety Tera Drama'.
The focal point of the song is, for obvious reasons, Kriti Sanon who looks priceless in her traditional attire and amps it up with her impeccable dance moves. Ayushmann Khurrana lends an able helping hand, and a leg, with his charged performance.
Rajkummar Rao also delivers a rare shake-a-leg. While his moves are up to the mark, he chooses to stick to his character of a desperate womaniser and dances accordingly. Kudos to him for not letting the ambitious star in him overpower the character!
Also, noteworthy mentions to Bitti's played by Sanon, parents. Her mother's 'shocking' moves will leave you in splits while her father's, played by Pankaj Tripathi, fairly cute lip-syncing comes across as endearing.
As far as Tanishk Bagchi's music and production design are concerned, they are completely into the small town zone. Dev Negi's vocals are the new talk of the town after his rendition of 'Butterfly' from Imtiaz Ali's upcoming romantic comedy Jab Harry Met Sejal. He owns 'Sweety Tera Drama' as well, with his powerful yet fun-filled voice.
Pawni Pandey, who gained acclaim with 'Laila' from Rahul Dholakia's crime drama Raees earlier this year, brings her melodious voice to the table. Shabbir Ahmed also skillfully crafts his lyrics in accordance with the mood of the song and adds the right amount of masala to the song.
Also, if you carefully observe the choreography of this song, the track is more situational than just a random fun dance number.
Bareilly Ki Barfi is co-produced by Junglee Pictures and BR Studios. It is slated to release on 18 August.
