Manikarnika — The Queen of Jhansi: Shweta Tripathi will reportedly star in Kangana Ranaut's film
Kangana Ranaut-starer period drama Manikarnika — The Queen Of Jhansi has added a new gem in its crown by reportedly roping in Shweta Tripathi. Shweta shot to success after her tremendous performance in the critically acclaimed movie Masaan.
Now, the Times of India reports that Shweta will be seen as Kashibai, Rani Laxmibai's (played by Kangana) best friend and war companion in the movie.
The same reports states that as the actor is currently travelling, the paperwork is yet to be completed but it is believed that all the formalities will be done and signed once she reaches Mumbai.
"Shweta will perform her own stunts like the other actors in the film. She will also have to undergo training in sword-fighting and horse-riding before she starts shooting with Kangana but her training will not be as intense as Kangana's," a source said, as quoted by the same report. Kangana started preparing for the film a couple of months ago and even got herself hurt during the sword-fighting training.
According to the history books, Kashibai accompanied Laxmibai to Jhansi after her marriage and later became an impeccable part of her army to fight against the British.
Directed by Krrish, Manikarnika also stars Ankita Lokhande, Suresh Oberoi, Nihar Pandya, Atul Kulkarni and Vaibhav Tatwawaadi among others. The movie is slated to release in April next year.
