Judwaa 2 star Jacqueline Fernandez has bagged her next big project – Ribhu Dasgupta’s upcoming Hindi remake of the 2016 Hollywood film The Girl On The Train.
The film was a thriller based on the 2015 bestseller of the same name and starred Emily Blunt as a commuter on a train who becomes embroiled in the lives of a married couple she observes from the train.
The director Ribhu, who previously made the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Te3N, and holds the official adaptation rights for the film and the book, confirmed Jacqueline as his leading lady for this author-backed role.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, he said, “I have just finished the script. Jackie (Jacqueline) has come on board as the protagonist. While the novel had an ensemble cast, our film will revolve around her character. I have been looking forward to working with her and this seemed like a perfect project to collaborate. You get together to make a film when people think alike in many ways and when I had met her, I discovered we were on the same page”
The film is slated to start shooting in the first half of 2018 and will be set in a small town. It has not been decided whether they will film in India or abroad.
While Jacqueline is currently riding high on the success of Judwaa 2 , and is busy shooting with Sushant Singh Rajput for Tarun Mansukhani’s Drive, landing a plum project with a script that centers on her character is another reason for her to celebrate. She is also set to start shooting for the Salman Khan, Bobby Deol-starrer Race 3 next month.
With a slew of exciting projects lined up, Jacqueline seems to be up for a busy year ahead.
