Varun Dhawan is one performer who brims with sincerity and honesty in his work. He definitely knows his job and the kind of trajectory he’s walking on post those copious comparisons with Salman Khan and Govinda is intriguing to see. Bhediya, Jug Jugg Jeeyo, and October instantly come to mind. Post pandemic, the audiences are keen to witness mass cinema, currently the most abused term on social media. So why should Dhawan shy away from jumping into the bandwagon and beat people to pulp or even death.

STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

He’s coming up with Baby John, and it’s a remake of the Tamil blockbuster Theri. Or maybe director Kalees has only taken the blueprint and made his own film. Maybe the body is of Theri but the soul belongs to Baby John. The trailer that was unveiled on December 9 has some stunning visuals, an earnest Dhawan, and the perpetually watchable Jackie Shroff as the antagonist. What the trailer lacks in terms of emotional depth and gravitas, it compensates with breathless action, badass imageries, and the blockbuster cameo by Salman Khan.

I’m still keeping that dash of excitement and expectations alive as the leading man has always been sincere in everything he did. He’s no longer a baby after all.

Varun Dhawan shared at the launch, “I’m beyond thrilled to be a part of Baby John. This film is a deeply emotional and powerful journey, and it’s been an incredible experience bringing this character to life. The trailer offers just a glimpse of the intensity and heart this story carries, and I can’t wait for the audience to witness it on the big screen. Working on this project has been truly special, and I’m so excited to share it with everyone.”

Presented by Jio Studios in association with Atlee and Cine1 Studios, Baby John is a production of A for Apple Studios and Cine1 Studios. Directed by Kalees, the film is set to hit theaters on 25th December 2024.
