Despite the unprecedented scale of piracy, Salman Khan’s \_Sikandar\_ remained unstoppable at the box office. Having emerged as one of the biggest openers of 2025, the film maintained a strong hold on its collections. Continuing its box office run, it garnered ₹7.02 crore on its fifth day, proving its sustained success even on a weekday. With this the film crossed the milestone of ₹100 Cr. in India with the total now counts, ₹105.18 Cr.
Amid the film’s commercial failure, the director of the film AR Murugadoss spoke about its failure in an interview with Valaipechu Voice and said, “It’s not easy to shoot with a star. Even day scenes, we have to shoot at night because he turns up to sets only by 8 PM. We are people who are used to shooting right from early mornings, but that’s not how things work there.”
He added, “If there were four kids in a scene, we would have to shoot with them at 2AM, even if it’s the shot of them returning from school. They would become tired by that time and usually dozed off.”
Murugadoss continued, “In the film, when the king loses his wife, her organs are donated to three different people. He then seeks them out, trying to fulfil the things he couldn’t do for her. In the process, he befriends an entire village. The story was emotional, but I couldn’t execute it well.”
But now, as per reports, it suffered a loss of Rs 91 crore due to piracy. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “An audit was commissioned to assess the extent of the leak and the resulting impact on revenue. Ernst & Young (EnY) submitted a comprehensive report that pegged the loss at approximately Rs. 91 crore.”
The source added, “Such audits often include a blend of data from ticketing platforms, distributor reports, and forensic tracing of piracy dissemination. The Rs. 91 crore figure wasn’t arbitrary – it is rooted in a loss of potential theatrical and digital revenue.”
